Coldplay Concert!
I just got back from an awesome night...in Iowa! I know, random, right?! I didn't expect it to be as great as it was, but I had such a fun time! A couple months ago, my roommate Cindy bought us tickets to the Coldplay concert in Iowa. At first, I wasn't too happy that I had to pay $100 for a band I wasn't too crazy about. I know some of their "hit" songs, but I hardly knew the words to most of them! However, when the lights went down and the band started rockin', it was totally worth it! Coldplay is notorious for having amazing concerts; it's more like an experience, with all of the movement and special effects.
It took 4 and a half hours to get there, but Cindy and I are pretty good at entertaining ours
elves on long road trips. The best part was seeing Amish people EVERYWHERE as soon as we neared the border between Missouri and Iowa! They were so cute, in their horse and buggies! It was bizarre to think
that people still live "au natural" (as a local called it). The women wore traditional homemade dresses and bonnets, and the men had straw hats! Cindy and I were screaming and freaking out inside the car, so I hope we didn't scare them too much!
We decided to cheap it out and stay in our friends' apartment...alone! I met this guy at a BBQ last week, and then we saw him the next night at The Hangover movie! We were all chatting outside the theatre after the show, and we told him we were going to Iowa for the night! He was SUPER NICE, and trusted us enough to offer us the keys to his place! He and his friends we
re off to the Lake for the weekend, but he left directions and a key under his car wheel, and we crashed in his place! It was probably a lot nicer than any hotel we could have afforded, and it totally worked out! We brought them a Mizzou bear and left them a thank you note! I would have never let strangers stay in MY apartment, but I'm glad he let us!
The concert was unbelievable. Snow Patrol opened for Coldplay, and they were just as talented as the featured band! They played "Chasing Cars," which is a song Rolo gave me in one of his amazing CDs, so it meant a lot to me to get to see them perform! Coldplay's concert kind of reminded me of the Beatles "Love" show in Las Vegas. There was so much to see and such good music constantly, Cindy and I were screaming, jumping and dancing the whole time! They even got the whole crowd moving with a cell phone "wave"...it looked so cool!
We got back to Columbia on Saturday afternoon, and had another fun night out on the town! We met all of our friends and hung out at the Quinton's bar downtown, and didn't get home until 4 in the morning. CRAZYYY. ;)

B3 Week 3
KOMU is taking over my life, my dreams, and all my thoughts...but the really scary part is that I really enjoy it! Working at the news station once a week during the regular school year seemed to intimidate me. But working there three times a week in the summer is great! I feel like I've found my niche, my team, my second home. It's a lot of work, but what good job isn't?! It's also one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. At the end of the day, I am proud of my final product, and the feedback from friends and family makes the day's stresses all worth it. Thanks to everyone for your support, and I will continue to try and improve!
